Hadleigh J. Case, 83, of Pierre, passed away July 14, 2022. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at 9:00am, Monday, July 18, 2022 at Feigum Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at Oldham Cemetery in Oldham, SD.
Hadleigh James was born October 28, 1938 to Harry James and Frances Katherine (George) Case in Oldham, SD. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Oldham High School. Following high school, Hadleigh enlisted in the United States Navy. He was stationed in Charleston, SC where he served for three years. He then joined the Navy Reserve in which he served for the next ten years. After his three years of active duty, he attended General Beadle Teachers College and studied business. It was there that he met the love of his life. Hadleigh married Glennys Hansen in 1964 and they made their home in Watertown, Madison, and Salem before settling in Pierre in 1980. He began his career in pharmaceutical sales which eventually led to a job in the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, where he helped move many businesses to South Dakota. After retiring from the State of South Dakota, Hadleigh continued to work in economic development as an independent contractor until the mid 1990s.
Family was Hadleigh’s priority. From coffee in the morning with Glennys to making it a priority that he babysat the grandkids versus them being in daycare, those he loved came first. He often showed his care and concern for his family through his passion for cooking and baking. When a hunting or fishing trip was planned, he would make sure that the crew was fed a hearty breakfast and had a batch of chocolate chip cookies for the day ahead. Hadleigh’s greatest pride and joy; however, were his grandkids – while the grand dogs came in a close second.
Grateful for having shared in his life is his wife Glennys, son Steve (Penni) Case, daughter Sandy (Kevin) Klatt, grandchildren: Brayden Case, Brittney Case, Ethan Case, Aaron (Sonja) Clausen, Devi Clausen and her children, Carter Klatt, Courtney Klatt, Caleb Klatt, Colton Klatt and Derek (Dara) Klatt and their children. Hadleigh was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Marlene, Vesta and Jack.
