Ray John Elenbaum, 73, of Pierre, SD, passed away on July 20, 2022. Funeral services will be at 11:00am on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Lutheran Memorial Church, with visitation for one hour prior at the church. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Pierre, SD.

Ray was born on March 16, 1949 in Langdon, ND, to Loren and Gale (Norlund) Elenbaum. He attended school in Langdon, graduating from Langdon High School.
Ray served in the United States Army from February 1968 until he was Honorably discharged in September of 1969. He was very proud to have served in the Vietnam war.
Ray married Linda Mae (Schill) Elenbaum of Pierre, SD on January 16, 1971 in Leola, SD. Their 1st four years of marriage, they traveled with the Army Corp. of Engineers, living in Montana, Colorado, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota. While due with their 2nd child, Linda settled in Pierre in 1975. Ray continued to travel until 1988 when he transferred to Pierre Army Corp. of Engineers.

Ray enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, hunting, boating, and camping. He also was an active member of the American Legion and the VFW.
Ray is survived by his wife Linda, his children Susan (Jim) Jensen, Minot, ND; Kathy (Jeff) Arnold, Pierre, SD; Sheri (Ryan) Doolittle, Pierre, SD, sisters Linda Shaffer, Puyallup, WA; Karen Gvesrude, Moreno Valley, CA; grandchildren Jenna Jensen, Alana (Chris) Schmidt, Robert Arnold, Jared Jensen, Brody Doolittle; great-grandchildren Adelynn, Brooklyn, Oaklynn Schmidt; sisters and brothers in-law June Diede, Tina (Bob) Stallman, Howard Schill, Violet (Curtis) Veil, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Gale Elenbaum; mother and father-in-law Oscar and Esther Schill; niece Teri Massey; brothers-in-law Ty Gvesrude, Doyle Shaffer, Robert Bauer, Marvin Diede; sisters-in-law Fern Bauer, Gladys Schill.

Memorials will be given to VA Black Hills Healthcare.
