Two Pierre realtors have been recognized by the Central South Dakota Board of Realtors for outstanding work in their industry and in their communities.
Meredith Lee, Broker/Owner of Lee Real Estate was chosen Realtor of the Year 2022. The Rising Star award was given to Jackie Prouty, Broker Associate with Cathy Sonnenschein Properties.
The awards were announced at the general membership meeting of the Central Board of Realtors, which is the local National Association of Realtors organization for the Pierre, Winner, Mobridge and Chamberlain areas of South Dakota.
The Rising Star Award recognizes members that have been in the industry for five years or less who promote professional enthusiasm and best examples of the Realtor Code of Ethics. Prouty has served on the Board of Directors for the past two years, attends Multiple Listing Services meetings and was an active volunteer for the North/South Dakota Realtors Convention held in Pierre in 2021. Some of her community volunteerism includes PAWS and Feeding South Dakota.
As Realtor of the Year, Lee was honored for her participation and achievements in both the profession of real estate and in her community. Since becoming a Realtor in 2004, Lee has served on local, state and National Real Estate boards and committees. A proponent of continual education, she has been a national presenter. She served as co-chair for the North/South Dakota Realtors Convention in Pierre.
Lee serves as the South Dakota Realtors Membership Services chair and is a member of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force. She has served as state director, participated in Strategic Planning and been a member of every state committee, was RPAC Trustee and was in the first Leadership call offered by SDAR.
For the National Realtor Association, she is currently on the Leading Edge Advisory Board and participated in the NAR legislative leadership meeting. Lee is past President of the Pierre Area Chamber, and in her second term on the Capital Area United Way Board. She has also just been appointed to the Avera St. Mary’s Board of Directors.
Lee and her business support community events and programs with time and funding, including Oahe Days, Pierre Youth Orchestra, Tour De Oahe and Laframbois Island bike race, Oahe Capitals Ice Skating, South Dakota Discovery Center and Best of South Dakota Arts Awards. Lee has received the Prairie Family Business Award, Best of the Best from the Capital Journal newspaper and the Good People Good Causes Award.
