Daryll was born on May 12, 1940, to Lloyd and Edith (Clark) Stuart in Hughes County, SD. Daryll grew up in Canning, SD where he attended grade school and later attended high school in Blunt, SD. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1958 and was stationed on the DMZ as a medic in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1960.
He married Mary Lou Hillmer on December 1, 1960, and to this union they welcomed four children: Darylynn, Shellie, Daryll II, and Erin. He drove truck for several different companies his entire adult life, but his favorite job was hauling old cars under his own company “Bad River Express.” He loved tinkering on any older model vehicles he could get his hands on. He also enjoyed camping and fishing with his family and attending the annual family camping trips to Okoboji, Chantier Creek, and Akaska. One of his favorite past times was singing to the old classic country songs on the radio. He kidded that he and his daughter Shellie should go to Nashville. Another favorite past time was playing cards and chuckling under his breath when he beat his sons-in-law, Shayne and Monte. He loved spending time with his family and friends, telling old stories and poking fun at the grandkids with his famous one-liners.
Daryll is survived by his children Darylynn (Monte) Plucker of Parker, SD; Shellie (Shayne) Krog of Ft. Pierre, SD; Daryll (Chad Davis) Stuart II of Chattanooga, TN; Erin Ruhl of Rapid City, SD; six grandchildren: Mandee (Jared) Adrian, Casey (Brittany) Krog, Tanner (Melissa) Plucker, Sara (Michael) Deelstra, Tyler Ruhl, and Ava Ruhl; ten great grandchildren: McKenzye Gunderson (Daniel Scotting), Connor Krog, Colton Krog, Jaylyn Adrian, Jaycyn Adrian, Lincoln Deelstra, Evelyn Plucker, Baylor Krog, Avery Deelstra, and Scarlett Plucker; two step great grandchildren: Lindsie Adrian and Taylor Adrian; and two step great great grandchildren: Ashbee Anderson and Goku Porter; sister: Deloris (Casey) Hannum, brother Dean Stuart; brothers-in-law: Clyde (Nell) Hillmer, Doug (Peggy) Hillmer, and Rex (Deb) Hillmer; sisters-in-law: Alice Hillmer, Kathy Stuart, and Francie Larsen; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Daryll was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Edith Stuart, brother Donald Stuart, son-in-law David Ruhl, brothers-in-law Edwin (Beverly) Hillmer, Dale (Jo) Hillmer, Ivan Hillmer, Garry “Hook” Hillmer, and sisters-in-law Marjorie Hillmer, Dixie (Robert) King. and Karen Yellow.
