Funeral services for Clarence Moser, 89, of Mobridge will be at 10 AM, Friday, September 16, 2022, at the Family Worship Center in Mobridge. Burial will be at 3 PM, Friday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Clarence passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.
Clarence was born on January 12, 1933 in rural Corson County to Philip and Lizzie (Heinrich) Moser. He was raised on a farm 18 miles south of McIntosh, SD. He attended a rural country school for 8 years. After that he stayed at home to help his parents with the farm work. In October of 1950 he moved with his parents to a farm near Walker, SD.
On March 3, 1953 he was inducted into the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He took his basic training at Ft. Riley, Kansas, then was transferred to Ft. Lewis, Washington, where he joined the 2nd Infantry Division. He was trained and worked as a mechanic in a service company. He was discharged from the service on March 3, 1955. He attained the rank of Cpl and was awarded the good conduct medal and the sharpshooter medal.
He then came back to the farm at Walker with his parents until the fall of 1958 when his parents retired and moved to McLaughlin. He then took over the operations of the farm. On Nov 2, 1958, he was married to Arlene Litzau. They had two daughters, Cathy and Cari. Clarence was a member of the Baptist Church of McIntosh, and was active in the church serving as Deacon, trustee, and Sunday School Superintendent. In 1994 Clarence and his wife Arlene bought a home in Mobridge and retired from farming.
Clarence was preceded in death by his wife Arlene, parents, Philip, and Elisebeth Moser, all of his siblings, Rajenna Moser, Freada Mertz, Edwin Moser, Tillie Dietterle, Adeline Brockel, Betty Pareno and Marvin Moser.
He is survived by his two daughters Cathy (Jack) Getz of Bismarck, ND and Cari (Royce) Walker of McLaughlin, SD, two granddaughters, Becky (Jared) Cutting and their daughter, Sophie, of Mandan, ND and Brittni (Matt) Dobowey and their children, Laken, Ava, Luke & Rhett of Max, ND, two grandsons, Tyler (Carrie) Getz and their children Parker, Kennedy & Brennlee of Mobridge, SD, and Rason (Annie) Walker and their children, Alice, Ruby & baby boy in November of Walker, SD.
