Mary M. Olen, 68, of Wecota, was welcomed into Heaven, Monday, October 3, 2022 at Faulkton Area Medical Center.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 8, 2022 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wecota with Pastor Colin Ford presiding. Burial will follow at the Millard Cemetery, Norbeck, SD. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church.
Mary was born to John and Gladys (Deloy) Olen on March 4, 1954, in Aberdeen, SD. She grew up on a farm near Norbeck and received her education from Cresbard High School. She continued on at Presentation College in Aberdeen for a short time.
Mary returned to the family farm and remained there for the rest of her life. She loved animals and faithfully tended the cattle herd for nearly 50 years. Most of all she loved God, gospel music, family and friends. Mary enjoyed visiting, doing errands for people, baking and making afghans.
In 2022, Mary began her battle with cancer. She never gave up and always knew the Lord had the perfect plan for her.
Mary is survived by her brothers: David and Donald Olen of Wecota; sister-in-law: Patricia of Wecota; nephew, Mark Olen; and nieces: Angela (Benjamin) Grams and Lori (Cody) Bruns; and several great nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Lance D. Olen.
