MITCHELL – A fast start on Monday propelled the Harrisburg Tigers to the SDHSAA Class AA Boys Golf State Championship, which was completed Tuesday at Lakeview Municipal Golf Course. The Tigers won their first boys golf team championship in school history.
Harrisburg finished 36 holes at 11-over-par, but the Tigers had been two-under 286 through 18 holes. Rainy and cool conditions caused most scores to rise on Tuesday.
Pierre was second at 19-over. Watertown, which shot one-under on Tuesday, finished third at 20-over-par.
Riley Christensen of Harrisburg won the individual championship at four-under 140 (68-72), five shots better than defending state champion Jake Olson of Watertown at one-over. Olson shot 68 Tuesday after a 77 on Monday.
