At Wednesday (October 12th) night’s meeting of the Mobridge City Council, City Finance Officer Heather Beck brought up the subject of the recent refinishing of the floor at the Scherr Howe Event Center. Beck said they had opted to go with a vinyl application of the tiger on the floor, but there are issues with how it turned out.
Council members discussed the history and significance of the tiger on the floor. They also talked about painting a letter “M” instead of a tiger, or perhaps having nothing at all in that space on the floor. The city has an internal spending policy of $10,000 available without council approval. They will look into options as well as the budget to come up with a solution.
Also at the meeting representatives of Moore Engineering and NECOG gave a presentation on the $11.2 million dollar Mobridge water project and funding, with the council then approving three projects with Moore Engineering – for water intake, the water treatment plant, and for water storage.
For the Mobridge Police Department the council approved two dollar per hour raises for all dispatchers.
A resolution to levy a front footage assessment at sixty cents per foot was approved. Mayor Gene Cox said this is something that is done every year.
Pay Request #1 to O’Day Equipment for the airport jet fuel system was approved. Council also approved the termination of an airport hangar lease due to the condition of the hangar.
The City’s health insurance was renewed at a 5.11% increase.
