JULY 31, 2023:
After having to postpone last fall (Nov. 2022) because a crew member got COVID, a week of filming movie scenes in the Pierre and Fort Pierre area wrapped up last week (July 27, 2023).
Pierre filmmaker Luke Schuetzel says he used the extra time to make some changes to the script.
Schuetzel says “Battle Kursk” is set in Russia during WWII.
Schuetzel says it’s a war movie with a bit of a Western flare.
If things stay on schedule, Scheutzel expects “Battle Kursk” to be out early next year.
On a personal note, Schuetzel and his wife Trinity had the Pierre hospital’s first baby of the new year. He says little Evelyn and other family members do make appearances in the move.
Among the actors staring in “Battle Kursk” are Dolph Lundgren, who people may know from the Rocky movies.
NOVEMBER 7, 2022:
Filming of a WWII movie in the Pierre and Fort Pierre area has ended before it got started.
Pierre filmmaker Luke Schuetzel and his wife Trinity were going to start shooting “Battle Kursk” over the weekend (Nov. 5, 2022), but one of the crew members tested positive for COVID.
The Schuetzels say protocol for this circumstance is to “stop all activities and production for our dates at this time.” Because of the short amount of time scheduled for shooting in Pierre, they will NOT be filming for any of the previously planned dates. The couple says they will let people know if they are able to reschedule shooting the film in the Pierre and Fort Pierre area.
Among the actors slated to star in the movie set in Russia are Dolph Lundgren, who people may know from the Rocky movies, and Robert Patrick, who was the T-1000 liquid metal antagonist character in Terminator II.

A Pierre filmmaker is starting to shoot his latest movie this week and he’s doing it with some “extra” help from folks around the Pierre and Fort Pierre area.
Luke Schuetzel says “Battle Kursk” is set in Russia during WWII.
He says he’s looking for people to play a variety of different roles.
Schuetzel is also looking for certain movie props.
Scheutzel says joining his “Pierre, SD Movie Extras” Facebook group is the best way to see what props they’re looking for or to let him know you’re interested in being an extra.
Schuetzel plans to start filming on Nov. 5, 2022, and finish around Nov. 15.
