Taylor T. Nystrom, 43, of Agar/Gettysburg, peacefully passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at home surrounded by his family.
Private burial will take place in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Gettysburg.
A celebration of life will be held during the spring of 2023.
Taylor was born at Ellsworth Air Force Base, SD on August 25, 1979 to Mark and Jody Nystrom. He was the youngest of their four children. He grew up on the family farm in Agar, SD. Taylor attended elementary school in Agar, then moved to Gettysburg for high school. At GHS he was in All State Chorus, theatre, band, bowling, and was nicknamed Nanu. After graduation, Taylor attended Dakota State University in Madison, SD where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics for Computer Systems.
Taylor moved back home and began farming and ranching with his father. This fit his personality because he loved animals and didn’t mind a solitary lifestyle. He was a man of few words, other than the occasional one liner or witty comment. He had a great sense of humor! Taylor also worked at the Agar Post Office where he earned another nickname, “Smiley”, because that is how he greeted all his customers. Taylor was a gentle soul, who loved his nieces and nephews. They fondly remember swimming and playing games with Uncle Taylor. Taylor enjoyed games of all kinds: video games, board games and yard games. He was easily the number one draft pick for trivia. He loved music, especially Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.
Taylor will be missed dearly by his family and friends, dog Toby and cat Miss Kitty.
Taylor is survived by parents, Mark and Jody of Agar, SD; grandmother, Thelma Decker Frost of Glasgow, MT; siblings: Jason of Wasilla, AK, Damion (Mandy) of West Fargo, ND, and Shannon (Derek) Grossman of Buffalo, MN; nieces and nephews: Quinn, Grady, Whitney, Madalyn, Nickolas, Grant, Mackenzie, Kendall and Luke.
Taylor was preceded in death by his aunt, Jacque Burner; sister-in-law, Megan (Jason) Nystrom; cousin, Kris Decker; uncles, Gary Neemann and Craig Mitchell; and grandparents, Tom and Calista Nystrom, Ruben Decker and Charlie Frost.
Memorial donations in Taylor’s honor may be sent to Keep Hope Local, 127 Hilltop Dr., Gettysburg, SD 57442.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Taylor’s arrangements.
