OMAHA – Houston scored five of the last six points Friday to hold off a South Dakota rally and win a first round NCAA Tournament match in five sets, 25-14, 25-19, 18-25, 23-25, 15-11 at D.J. Sokol Arena at Creighton University.
Elizabeth Juhnke led the Coyotes (29-4) with 17 kills before leaving with an injury in the fifth set and became the first USD player and fourth in the Summit League to record 2,000 career kills. She will enter her senior season in 2023 with 2,004.
Madison Harms had 12 kills. Kylee Sealock had eight kills and four digs. Lolo Weideman had 20 digs. Madi Woodin recorded 13 digs and 38 assists.
The two sets the Coyotes won were the first two the program has won in four NCAA Tournament matches.
