Twyla Jane Fritz of Mobridge, South Dakota
March 26, 1953 – December 31, 2022
Memorial services for Twyla J. Fritz, 69 of Mobridge will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Family Worship Center, Mobridge, with Pastor Gary Street officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in Mobridge under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Twyla passed away Saturday, December 31, 2022 at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck.
Twyla Jane Bachmeier Fritz was born on March 26th, 1953 in Mobridge, SD to Elton Eugene Bachmeier and Phyllis Luce. She attended school in Mobridge.
She married Lyle DeWayne Fritz on June 5th, 1971 in Mobridge. They lived in Mobridge and had two children, Dustin and Stacy. Twyla and Lyle also shared the same birthday.
Throughout her lifetime, she worked as the secretary of both Freeman Davis and Beadle elementary schools. She then started her own business grooming, boarding, breeding, and showing dogs in competitions as well as teaching obedience training classes. She was also employed by the Mobridge Tribune while also becoming an author of three novels and a children’s book.
Twyla was known as the dog lady, crazy plant lady, Twyla gum, and Momma T. She enjoyed many things during her life which included gardening, reading books, visiting, cooking, taking care of everyone around her, and being a fresh light to all who knew her. She was an angel on earth. She also took part in a walking and swimming group from town as well as was a part of a gardening group. She, most of all, was proud to be in a “hippie” prayer chain that answered many prayers.
Twyla is survived by her husband Lyle, son Dustin Fritz (Val Reiss) of Mobridge, daughter Stacy Street (James Miller) of Mobridge, her mother Phyllis (Ritter) Luce, her brother Tim Bachmeier of Casper, Wyoming; four sisters Tamra (Tom) Bennett of Mobridge; Trina (Jerry) Lyons of Hartford SD; Toni (Bill) Scharberg of Casper, Wyoming; and Terri Shillingstad of Eureka, SD and a brother-in-law Jack Shillingstad of Mobridge. She is also survived by the many aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews across the United States.
Proceeding her in death are her grandparents Pauline and Edward Ritter, adoptive father Bob Luce, and her father Eugene Bachmeier.
