Bernita Benjamin,59, of Pierre died at her home surrounded by her family on December 31st. Memorial services will be held at 5:00pm on Sunday, January 15th at the Calvary United Pentecostal Church in Pierre. Isburg Funeral Chapel has been placed in care of the arrangements.

Bernita was born on January 5th 1963, in Chicago, IL, to LeRoy and Eddie Willis. Bernita grew up in Corinth, MS, where she graduated from Racine Christian Academy in Racine WI. Bernita married Jack Benjamin on June 11, 1983, in Kenosha, WI. Being a mother, teacher’s aide and pastor’s wife kept her quite busy.

Bernita is survived by her husband Jack Benjamin, her children: Amy (Josh) Hansen, Nathan Benjamin, Sara (Jason) Hamil, Annleaia Johnson, and Ashley Stetson and her six grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Robert Willis, Dorothy Wood and Becky Coleman.

Bernita is preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial fund has been established in Bernita’s name at Bankwest in Pierre and can be sent to the Calvary United Pentecostal Church (2410 Stanton Dr, Pierre SD 57501) or Bankwest (420 S. Pierre St., Pierre SD 57501.
