The ESD is set to expand.
On Monday, the Eastern South Dakota Conference announced that Tea Area will become the conference’s 10th member starting with the 2024-25 school year, coinciding with the Titans’ upcoming step up to Class AA in just about all sports.
Tea Area will participate in ESD basketball, competitive cheer and dance, cross country, football, golf, soccer, softball, track and field, volleyball and wrestling.
By 2024, Tea Area is expected to have nearly 800 students. Currently, according to the SDHSAA, Tea Area’s average daily membership is 443, but Tea is another of the fast-growing suburbs of Sioux Falls.
In a statement, Tea Area Athletic Director Craig Clayberg said, “Tea Area is excited for the opportunity to move up to AA in all athletics/activities and participate in the Eastern South Dakota Athletic Conference for the 2024-25 school year. We feel that the ESD has a rich tradition of success in athletics and are proud to join the conference.”
