Patrick Lewis Grey Owl Jr., 28, of Fort Thompson, SD was born February 2, 1995 to Tina Marie (Fleury) Grey Owl and Patrick Lynn Grey Owl Sr. in Pierre, SD on a sunny but cold day.
He started his schooling at St. Joseph’s Indian School in Chamberlain SD where he received his first communion. He left St. Joes during the third grade to attend school at Crow Creek Elementary and become a Chieftain. Patrick met a lot of his lifelong friends and family in Fort Thompson.
Patrick was loved, appreciated, and respected by everyone he met. He would do anything for the people he loved and cared for. In the year of 2021 and 2022 he fathered a son and daughter named Malachi Andrew Lewis Wounded Knee and Khalila Lynn Grey Owl.
Patrick was first employed as a cook at Cedar Shore Resort alongside his father, Patrick Sr., as a cook at the Lode Star Casino, and as the monitor for the Homeless Shelter, where he called some of the guys there “The Boys”. He had a silly and genuine side to him that you won’t forget.
Patrick passed away on March 14, 2023 at Fort Thompson, SD. Gratefully sharing his life are his father Patrick, Sr., five sisters Paige, Peyton, Rosilee, Heather, and Maureen; a brother Mark; his uncle Raymond Grey Owl; grandfather LeRoy Thompson Jr.; many nieces, nephews, and cousins too many to name.
Patrick will be missed dearly by all who knew him. He was a good dad, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
He will be greeted in Heaven by his mom, Tina Grey Owl; sisters Tawnee Medicine Crow and Mitzi Medicine Crow; grandma’s Martha Bird, Iva Obago, and Margaret Fleury; and uncle Douglas Grey Owl Sr.
