The US Army Corps of Engineers holds meetings at locations along the Missouri River each spring to provide updates on expected runoff and summer operations.
Meetings scheduled in Pierre and Lower Brule were canceled due to the snowstorm this week (April 4, 2023). But, at a meeting in Bismarck, Ryan Larsen with the Corps office in Omaha gave an update on predicted runoff.
Larsen says snowpack in the upper reaches contains a lot of S-WE, or snow water equivalent.
Larsen says they expect runoff to be in the normal range for most of the year.
