Lavern Lynn Wagner, 74, of Pierre, SD, died on Monday, April 3, 2023 at Avera St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Isburg Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will take place at Black Hills National Cemetery at a later date.

Lavern was born on November 2, 1948 to Lester and Florence (Shoup) Wagner in Pierre, SD. He grew up on the family farm north west of Agar, SD. He attended school at Forrest City and Agar. After graduation he was drafted into the United States Army. He served in the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he married Linda and to this union two sons were born: Lynn and Layne. They lived in Minneapolis and he attended trade school, becoming a mechanic. They moved to Pierre where he worked as a mechanic before starting his own appliance repair business. He also owned Bushfield rentals and collected cars. Lavern and Linda later divorced. He met Myrna Gilland and they have been together ever since.

Lavern is survived by Myrna, and his sons: Lynn of Pierre, and Layne of Clarkston, MI. Lavern was preceded in death by his parents and brother Duane.
