Scott R. MarrowBone Sr., 47, of Cherry Creek, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Monument Health in Rapid City.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. MDT, Thursday, May 4, 2023, at the Cherry Creek Gym, Cherry Creek, SD. Burial will follow in St. Andrews Episcopal Cemetery, Cherry Creek, SD. Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at the gym, with a procession from the 2-mile hill east of town at 4:00 p.m.
Scott Ray MarrowBone Sr. was born January 31, 1976, the second to the youngest of 11 children to Gary Sr. and Linda (Yellow Owl) MarrowBone in Cherry Creek, SD. He spent his younger years attending school in Cherry Creek and later attended the School for the Blind in Aberdeen and Takini School before completing his G.E.D.
Throughout his life Scott was employed at many places which included Subway, Lakota Thrifty Mart, CRST Bingo Hall, Botticelli’s Ristorante in Rapid City, as well as being part of the construction of Eagle Butte’s new healthcare facility. Scott moved to Sioux City, IA where he lived with his sister Edna, working at Americold and Wendy’s.
In 2002, Scott married Antoinette Hanson. To this union four children were born: Brooke, Kella, Scott Jr., and Stenton Trey.
Scott loved to laugh and joke around. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, cheering on his favorite NFL team the Dallas Cowboys (winning or losing), taking care of or watching after anyone and everyone he called a friend, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He deeply missed his mom, brothers, sister, aunt Pauline, and his uncle Roland Sr. The last few months of his life he was happy as he was back in the home he shared with his dear mom and brothers.
He is survived by his daughters: Brooke LeClaire (Lanley) and Kella MarrowBone; son, Scott Jr.; grandchildren: Hailey, Hannah, and Hadley LeClaire and Kamiyah and Ellie MarrowBone; sisters: Ophelia (Billy) Dupris, Edna (Harold) Tyndall, Germaine MarrowBone, and Jerzy Ward; brother, Dewey MarrowBone Sr.; cousins: Marlon Yellow Owl, Kathleen Eagle Chasing, and Iris Eagle Chasing; uncle, Russell Benoist; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents: Gary MarrowBone Sr. and Linda MarrowBone; son, Stenton Trey MarrowBone; sister, Erma MarrowBone; brothers: Royce, Orville, Justin, and Gary Jr. MarrowBone; aunts, Pauline Eagle Chasing and Cordelia Benoist; uncle, Roland Roach Sr.; and numerous cousins, nephews, and grandparents.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Scott’s arrangements.
