The Stanley County School Board has an approximately $8.1 million budget for the 2023-24 school year.
Superintendent Dan Baldwin says that’s an increase of roughly 3% from the current year.
As with most districts across South Dakota, Baldwin says they are covering open positions as best as they can.
Stanley County School District certified staff are getting a 7.2% pay increase, raising the base salary for certified teachers to at least $45,000. Classified staff and administrators are, on average, receiving a 7% pay bump.

The Stanley County School Board is considering an approximately $8.1 million budget for the 2023-24 school year, an increase of roughly 3% from the current year’s budget.
Business manager Tate Gabriel says salaries and benefits are about $4.2 million of the total budget. He says there’s a slight decrease in property tax levies for 2023-2024.
Stanley County School District certified staff are getting a 7.2% raise, raising the base salary for certified teachers to at least $45,000. Classified staff and administrators will, on average, receive a 7% pay bump.
The 2022-2023 final budget for the Stanley County School District was roughly $7.9 million.
The new fiscal year begins July 1. Under state law, all school boards in South Dakota must approve their district’s annual budget by Oct. 1.
