JULY 19, 2023:
One person died Friday afternoon (July 14, 2023) in a two vehicle crash five miles Northeast of Langford.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates 21 year old Anna Huggett from Long Prairie, Minnesota, was operating a field sprayer when the boom of the sprayer came in contact with a parked semi-truck and trailer parked on 420th Avenue (minimum maintenance road) near 119th Street. Semi driver Michael Patton from Andover was standing next to the trailer of the semi. The sprayer boom struck the parked semi-trailer and then struck Patton.
The 45 year old Patton was pronounced deceased while enroute to the hospital.
Huggett was not injured.

The names of the two persons involved have not been released.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates the 21-year-old female was operating a field sprayer when the boom of the sprayer came in contact with a parked semi-truck and trailer parked on 420th Avenue (minimum maintenance road) near 119th Street.
The 45-year-old male was standing next to the trailer of the semi. The sprayer boom of Vehicle No. 1 struck the parked semi-trailer and then struck the 45-year-old male.
The 45-year-old male was pronounced deceased while enroute to the hospital. The 21 year old female was not injured.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
