Sharon Carol Hageman was born October 4, 1952, to Gillis and Delores (Bertha) Hageman in
Hoven, SD. She was raised on the family farm and graduated with the class of 1970. After high
school, Sharon attended Mount Marty College, graduating with a degree in respiratory therapy.
She then moved to Chattanooga, TN where she was employed by Erlanger Hospital. While in
Chattanooga she met and married the love of her life, Martin Haverty in 1978. To this union their
daughter, Jennifer Lee, was born in 1979.
In 1983, the family moved back to South Dakota where Sharon was employed at Avera St.
Luke’s Hospital until the time of her death. She worked as a respiratory therapist and went on to
start a sleep study lab, the first of its kind for St. Luke’s.
Sharon loved to travel, going to many beautiful countries, but her favorite place to visit was
going on mission trips to Haiti. She was instrumental in building a small church in memory of
her parents, Gillis and Delores Hageman. She loved reading, setting puzzles, cooking, and was
always the first person to help with anything that was asked of her. Ever since Jenny brought
home the first stray kitten, Sharon has had a 4-legged furry friend to love.
The light of her life was her granddaughter, Rylee. Sharon was there on the sidelines to support
Rylee in all of her activities, especially her school plays.
Sharon’s life will forever be cherished by her daughter, Jennifer Rinehart of Dell Rapids;
granddaughter, Rylee Rinehart of Sioux Falls; sister, Donna (Bill) Zweber; brothers: Dan (Angie)
Hageman and Dave (Ann) Hageman, all of Hoven; 17 nieces and nephews; and numerous great
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin and her parents, Gillis and Delores Hageman.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Sharon’s arrangements.
