YANKTON – Pierre Governor Volleyball had hoped Thursday to take out the frustration of four consecutive losses in Yankton. Instead, the Gazelles kept Pierre’s frustration going.
Yankton swept Pierre 25-16, 25-22, 25-16 at the Summit Activity Center, handing the Governors their first five-match losing streak since 2020.
The Gazelles (4-13), who had only one win against a AA program this season before Thursday, scored seven straight points in the first set, rallied from five points down in the second set, and broke open a close third set with seven straight points.
Ava Koller, Cameron Koletzky and Macy Drotzmann each had nine kills for Yankton. Koletzky and Drotzmann each served two aces.
Reese Terwilliger registered six kills and a block for Pierre (8-7). Campbell Boddicker and Makayla Sherwood each notched five kills. Sherwood had three blocks.
Pierre had nine service errors and 17 hitting errors.
