In loving memory of a remarkable woman, Debra Karen Mcdade, who passed away on October 18, 2023. Debra’s life was a testament to her boundless love, courage, and selflessness.
Debra, a caring and loving soul, was known for giving without expecting anything in return. Her journey began with a few years of service in the Marines, a chapter that exemplified her unwavering dedication and strength. Debra took immense pride in her service and often regaled her loved ones with stories of her time in uniform.
She held a profound belief that life was to be lived without regrets. Debra was an avid traveler who imparted her wisdom to her children, encouraging them to explore the world and seize every opportunity.
Family was at the core of Debra’s existence, and she welcomed all into her heart with open arms. Bloodlines were insignificant; if you were family, you were family. Her parents, Harriet Thompson and Alvin Thompson, along with her numerous brothers and sisters, were cherished bonds in her life.
Debra extended her love beyond her immediate family, taking in many children over the years who regarded her as their own. Shelly, Kelly, Shaun, Rocky, Roger, JR II, Kyle, Derrick, and Miranda were among those whose lives she touched and enriched.
Debra’s journey led her across the country until she finally settled in Minneapolis, MN, where she and her children created countless cherished memories. Her unwavering faith in God provided her with solace, knowing she would be welcomed by living righteously. Debra had an extraordinary talent for giving, and her home was a sanctuary for those in need. In her later years, she welcomed her grandchild, Shaun (Baby-Shaun) Mcdade, into her home, and they became inseparable. Their bond was a testament to Debra’s love and nurturing nature. Baby-Shaun took care of her as she had cared for him, driving her to appointments and ensuring she wanted for nothing.
For those who knew Debra, her infectious smile, laughter, and her ability to find humor in life were unforgettable. Her sense of humor was matched only by her willingness to laugh at herself, endearing her to everyone she met.
