Deloris was born November 23, 1929, to Joseph and Ida (Schneider) Schatz in Mahto, S.D.
After graduating from high school, Deloris obtained her teaching certificate through summer school. In 1949 Deloris married Nick Morgen. To this union six children were born: Dennis, Dennine, Dorean, David, Deanne and Debbie Jo.
Deloris was a teacher, farmer’s wife, a mom, and most known for her role as owner/operator of the Dew Drop Inn supper club in Mahto. She successfully ran this business for 35 years until her retirement.
Deloris wore many hats in her lifetime, some of the lesser known being town constable, mail mistress, member of the Mahto Township board, and was on the election board. She served on the Retail Liquor Dealers Association and was named Retailer of the Year. She was an active member of the McLaughlin Senior Citizens and served as their treasurer. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and of the altar society.
When Deloris wasn’t busy with her work or family, she enjoyed life like playing games with her grandchildren, bowling, playing cards, going to the casino, and, of course, telling stories! Her most recent adventure was a trip to the Sturgis bike rally just three months before her 94th birthday.
Deloris is survived by her daughters; Dennine Krumm, Mahto, Dorean Ragnone, Rapid City, Deanne (Rob) Mott, Mobridge and Debbie Jo (Jim) Ross, Rapid City. Six grandchildren; Nicole (Lyle) Ripplinger, Hope (Craig) Maher, Danielle (Bryan) Beaulieu, Samantha (Nick) Ragnone-Michael, Jeffrey (Deanna) Ross, Patrick (Eleanor) Mott. Nine great grandchildren; Hunter and Mikayla Ripplinger, Morgen, Meghan, Emmitt and Mikki Maher, Alinah Ahmed and Dana and Hanah Mott. Sisters, Gladys Dietrich of Miller and Lavern Hepper of Mobridge. Her very dear friend, chauffeur, and casino buddy, Karen Hinsz. And many nieces and nephews.
Some of those awaiting her arrival are parents, Joseph and Ida, husband, Nick, sons, Dennis and David, sister, Ena Ogard. Brothers-in-law Alton Ogard, Elmer Dietrich and Adolph Hepper, life partner, Roy Wendland and too many dear friends to mention.
