MARCH 4, 2024:
The Capital Area Counseling Services and Boys and Girls Club of the Capital Area are excited to announce the hiring of Steve Steele as the new Club CEO. He will begin on a part time basis April 1 as he fulfills his current teaching contract. He will transition to full-time June 1 and continue coaching the TF Riggs football team in the fall.
The Club’s board of directors says the leadership, passion and energy he brings to the Club is exciting for the youth and our communities.
Steele says, “I couldn’t be more excited to take on this new challenge and lead the Boys and Girls Club as we go through this transition together. There is so much potential to build upon the great programs already in place and find even more ways to serve the children in our community. I am very thankful for the CACS Board for their belief in me and their support throughout the process and also for their support in allowing me to continue in my role as the Head Football Coach for the Governor Football Program. I look forward to getting started with the team and helping build the Boys and Girls Club into yet another premier resource for the youth in our community and to help them become the best version of themselves.”
JANUARY 12, 2024:
After 13 years of overseeing the operation of the Boys and Girls Club of the Capital Area in Pierre, Capital Area Counseling Services is planning to break away from the Club.
Board member Tiffany Sanchez says the Club will once again operate as an independent, non-profit agency.
Sanchez says the transition will happen gradually.
Sanchez says being independent will likely make the Club qualify for more grant funding.
Sanchez says once the separation is finalized, the Club will handle it’s own day-to-day functions. To do that, she says they are adding a few administrative jobs at the Club.
Once a new board of directors is in place for the Club, Sanchez says Capital Area Counseling will assist as needed.
