Mass of Christian Burial for Richard J. “Dick” Keller, 84, of Mobridge will be at 10:30 AM, Monday, January 22, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mobridge with Fr, Michael Griffin officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 5 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM Sunday at the church. Dick passed away Monday, January 15, 2024 at the Walworth County Care Center in Selby.
Richard J. Keller “Dick” was born on August 3, 1939, to Baldwin and Johanna (Senger) Keller in Michigan, North Dakota. He attended school at the Hoffert Country School in Trail City.
In the sixties he worked for various farmers in the area. He then went to work at Mobridge Iron Works for several years. He married Sandra Kundert and to this union Richard Troy and Heidi Marie were born. In 1974 he went to work for Haberer’s Implement in Mobridge. Later Dick and DeWayne Weiszhaar purchased the business in Bowdle and Mobridge from Orval Haberer.
In 1975 he married Donna Landis Schweitzer and continued the business until he retired in 2001. After he retired he went into the lawn mowing business and flagging the bridge for oversized loads.
He enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, camping and did it to the fullest. While in business he won trips from the companies to Australia, Spain, Finland, and Russia.
He also did Elvis shows for the area and some of the companies he dealt with. He was in his glory doing these shows.
Dick was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mobridge, Knights of Columbus, Snow Goers Club, Loyal Order of the Moose and the Sportsman Club.
Grateful for having shared his life with his life are his wife, Donna, of 49 years, children, Richard Troy (Wanda) of Reedsport, OR, and Heidi Marie (Scott) of Caldwell, ID, grandsons, Neil, Beau, and Jack, siblings, Margie Tillman of Mobridge, Harvey (Diane) Keller of Minneapolis, MN, James (Jackie) Keller of Trail City, SD, Kenney Keller of Stirum, ND, Karen (Jerry) Miller of Jamestown ND, Jane Keller of Rapid City, SD, Betty (John) Hughes of Whitewood, SD, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his grandparents, parents, Baldwin and Johanna Keller, many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Also fur baby, Snoopy.
