A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, May 27, 2024 at 11:00AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobridge, SD.
She moved to the Winner Regional Long Term Care Facility three years ago so that she would be closer to family, particularly her daughter Jan Ringstmeyer. Prior to that, and most of her adult life, she lived in Mobridge, South Dakota and was sad that she had to leave. She was resilient and like the other trials in her life, she faced this change with grace.
Helen was born on September 12, 1930 in Ortonville, Minnesota and lived her early years on a farm near Big Stone City, SD. Her parents, Erick Kamin and Kate Pomeroy Kamin were farmers. She graduated from Ortonville High School at 17 years of age and bravely went to Minneapolis to go to school. She lived with a family and was a nanny to their children while she attended the Northwest Institute of Medical Technology. She received a degree in Xray Technology and electro cardio graphic technique on December 9, 1949. Following graduation, she obtained a job at the Mobridge Hospital and Spiry Clinic. She loved her work and after a short time met and married, Roland Cory. She worked alongside him in their business while also raising five children.
Mom was very creative and loved all kinds of crafts including sewing, tatting, drawing, and quilting. She loved music and had a beautiful soprano voice. Many enjoyable years were spent singing in the choir at Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a member of the 20th Century Club. One of her all-time favorite pass times was playing bridge with her friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Roland Cory, her sisters Betty Bergstrom, and Kathryn Stoltenburg; and her daughter Eleanor Ann Cory Franklin, son-in-law Richard (Dick) Frederick.
