Pierre city commissioners approve employee classification study

The Pierre City Commission has approved moving forward with an employee classification study.

Human Resources Director Laurie Gronlund says the last review of the city’s employee structure was done in 2017.

City Commissioner Jamie Huizenga says there have been a lot of changes in the labor market since 2017.

Mayor Steve Harding says Condrey Associates has performed similar studies with the city before.

Gronlund says to keep the cost down, Condrey’s staff will speak with Pierre employees virtually, rather than in person. She says this analysis was included in the 2024 budget.
