A 22 year old Pierre man faces multiple charges after an incident Saturday night (March 16, 2024, 7:30pm) in Pierre.
Information from the Pierre Police Department says patrol officers were dispatched to an assault report in the 400 block of S. Roberts Street. During the investigation, officers determined Kris Estes had assaulted a female victim by strangulation and had also assaulted a small child. The female victim attempted to take the child and leave the residence, but Estes would not allow them to go. He assaulted the female victim again. A person who heard the commotion taking place came to help the victim and Estes assaulted the witness as well.
When Officers arrived, Estes attempted to flee out a window, but was taken into custody. Estes was arrested and taken to the Hughes County Jail charged with obstructing an officer, aggravated assault domestic, simple assault, 2nd-degree kidnapping, and abuse or cruelty to a minor under age 7.
