MAY 15, 2024:
Becky Spoehr has been hired as the next executive director for the Capital Area United Way.
Spoehr, who will officially begin her duties June 10, 2024, comes to the United Way from the Boys and Girls Club of the Capital Area, where she’s worked since Aug. 2010. She eventually moved her way up to the Director position, where she’s been the past several years.
CAUW Board President Laura Ringling says Spoehr is dedicated and passionate about serving the Pierre and Fort Pierre communities. She says while leadership transitions, their commitment to supporting partner agencies and serving the communities remains the same.
Current executive director Holly Wade officially leaves the position Friday (May 17, 2024), but will continue to assist the organization through the Let Freedom Fly International Air Show being held in Pierre Memorial Day weekend (May 25-26, 2024). Proceeds from the show will benefit the Capital Area United Way.
Ringling says Capital Area United Way will kick off its annual fundraising campaign in August. The money supports six community impact programs and 13 nonprofit organizations that offer vital services to residents of Hughes and Stanley counties.
