SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Three South Dakota State women’s basketball players were honored by the Summit League on Thursday, as the league announced its postseason awards at its annual Summit League Championships tip-off press conference. Tori Nelson was named Freshman of the Year and earned a place on the all-newcomer team. Paiton Burckhard and Tagyn Larson were both selected to All-Summit League teams. The Jackrabbit men’s basketball team also had three selections to the All-Summit League team. Douglas Wilson, Matt Dentlinger and Noah Freidel were recognized as All-Summit League performers for the 2019-20 season, announced Thursday by the league office. Wilson earned Summit League Player and Newcomer of the Year honors with first team recognition, Freidel was tabbed as the Freshman of the Year as an honorable mention all-league pick and Dentlinger was named to the All-Summit League Second Team. Head coach Eric Henderson earned Summit League Coach of the Year honors in his first season at the helm, while Wilson and Freidel were also named to the league’s All-Newcomer squad.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota’s Ciara Duffy was chosen as The Summit League Player of the Year for the first time in her career in a vote by the league’s head coaches, athletic communications directors, and select media members. Hannah Sjerven was named the Defensive Player of the Year becoming the third straight Coyote to take home the award. Taylor Frederick, a senior center for South Dakota, was voted as the Sixth Woman of the Year and is the second consecutive Coyote to take home the honor. South Dakota’s Dawn Plitzuweit was voted the Coach of the Year for the third consecutive season. Plitzuweit guided the Coyotes to a 16-0 league record and USD is the only program to run the table twice in Summit League play. On the men’s side, South Dakota redshirt-senior forward Tyler Hagedorn has been named a first-team all-Summit League honoree while junior guard Stanley Umude earned second-team all-Summit League honors
