ABERDEEN, S.D. – Three state high school softball championships were played out Saturday to conclude the second season of SDHSAA sanctioned softball in South Dakota.
Chester claimed the Class B title with an offensive explosion, knocking off defending champion Castlewood, 19-8. It is Chester’s first ever softball state title.
In Class A, Tea Area was down to their last out and trailing by two runs, but they staged a comeback and topped West Central, 9-5, avenging a loss to the Trojans in last year’s finale.
Sioux Falls Lincoln finished an undefeated season with a 7-1 win over Harrisburg, repeating as Class AA softball champions. The Patriots yielded only one hit to their three opponents combined in the State Tournament.
