Scattered storms came through the central part of South Dakota Sunday night (July 28, 2024) into Monday and again Monday night into Tuesday.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Megan Mulford says rainfall amounts in the Pierre/Fort Pierre area have varied.
Mulford says in June and July, the Pierre/Fort Pierre area received an above average amount of rain.
Mulford says rainfall amounts in other parts of the state so far this week have also varied.
Mulford says a heat advisory is in effect until 8pm CT Tuesday.
The National Weather Service forecast says strong storms are expected to develop around central South Dakota late Tuesday afternoon, with large hail and strong winds being the main concerns.
High temperatures for the rest of the week are currently forecast to be in the upper 80s to upper 90s.
