PIERRE, SD –
Wesley “Wes” Hiller, 62, of Pierre, SD, died on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Avantara Redfield. Visitation will be from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, with a prayer service and time of sharing beginning at 7:00pm on Tuesday, August 13th at Onida United Methodist Church in Onida, SD. Funeral services will be at 10:00am on Wednesday, August 14th at the church, with burial to follow at the Onida Cemetery. Please feel free to wear rooster orange or camouflage in honor of Wesley’s love for hunting.
Wesley was born to Marvin and Shirley (Westphal) Hiller on June 8, 1962. He spent his childhood in Onida and graduated from Sully Buttes High School in 1980. He worked for local farmers for a short time before he found his true calling in law enforcement. He first served in Onida and then in Pierre for many years. Wes began Hiller Investigation Service, a private investigating business that showcased his eye for detail.
Wes was a man of many talents, he was known for his handiness and could be found lending his skills at a friend’s farm, making hunting improvements. He also worked at Spring Creek and Capital City Florist as well as other places throughout the years.
Wes will be remembered for his sense of humor and his love of the outdoors. He spent countless hours making memories with is hunting buddies.
Wes is survived by one brother Wade (Rondha) Hiller, niece Maghan Merrill and nephew Justin (Linden) Hiller, great niece Karmen Merrill and great nephew Briggs Hiller, aunt Lorraine Miller, uncle Roy (Charlotte) Hiller and many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant siblings Benjamin, Claude and Barbara Jean, and aunts and uncles.
