PIERRE, SD – Patrice “Patty” Grace Hooker, a cherished wife, mother, and friend, passed away on August 5, 2024, in South Carolina.
There will be a graveside service at 3:00pm on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Scotty Philip Cemetery in Fort Pierre.
Patrice was born on July 15, 1952, in Wagner, SD. Patty was the daughter of David and Irene (Wilkinson) Hiatt.
She attended school in Pierre and graduated from Riggs High School. Patty married C.O. Hooker, Sr. on November 22, 1979. One son, Scott was born to them. Patty had a career with the South Dakota Department of Labor where she worked for 17 years before retiring.
She had two dogs (Barkley and Rose) over the years that she enjoyed taking on walks and car rides. One thing that she would tell everyone is how proud she was of her kids and she would always tell us that our wedding day was the best day of her life. We still aren’t sorry for that AC/DC song, Mom!
She is survived by her son Scott and his wife Heidi Hooker. Sister Barbara Smedley and brothers Mark Hiatt (Debbie) and Dwight Hiatt, and brother-in-law Duwayne Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband C.O., her parents, David and Irene, sister, Val Johnson, brother Donald, and nieces, Kristi Timm and Rebecca Hiatt.
At this time, there are no formal memorial arrangements. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Patty’s name to Paws Animal Rescue. Donations can be made online or mailed to Paws Animal Rescue PO Box 954, Pierre, SD 57501
Patty’s warmth, kindness, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
