PIERRE, SD – With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Laura Lee Blotske on September 25th, 2024, at the age of 47. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 29th from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM, at Lutheran Memorial in Pierre, SD. Funeral service will be Monday, September 30th at 11:00 AM, at Lutheran Memorial in Pierre, SD, burial to follow. Reception with light refreshment will take place at The Fieldhouse, following the burial.
Laura was born on February 17th, 1977, in Huron, SD, to Larry and Donna (Weber) Jost. She lived in Pierre, SD, with her husband, Derek, and was a member of the Lutheran Memorial Church.
Laura grew up in Wessington Springs, SD where she graduated from High School in 1995 and later graduated from Mitchell College. As a child, Laura was as bubbly as she was as an adult. She never met a stranger that didn’t become a friend. Throughout her childhood she played many sports, including softball and volleyball. In high school she held numerous records in track for shot put and discus. Laura was also proudly named, The Leg Wrestling Champ!
On August 23, 2003, Laura married the love of her life, her husband, Derek Blotske, after 8 years of dating. In the early years of their relationship, Laura loved going on road trips with Derek while he was driving truck. During their marriage, they enjoyed countless camping trips together, playing golf, and many hours on their boat with their dog(s). Derek and Laura were best friends, with a relationship overflowing with love and laughter.
Laura loved to watch her nephews and other children in her life play sports. She was always every kid’s biggest cheerleader and was there to support them whenever she could. She was also passionate about watching her favorite NFL football team, The Vikings. Time with her family and friends was closely held to her heart as well as her time with fur babies, Nellie, Tank, and Luna.
For 7 years, Laura was a Highway Funding Specialist for the State of South Dakota DOT. For 15 years, she loved working with the Morris family as an Accountant and Assistant Store Manager.
She was known for her contagious smile, her beautiful soul, and her gift in making all those around her feel loved. The weight of her loss will be felt by all those who knew her.
Laura is survived by her husband Derek Blotske; parents Larry and Donna Jost; sister Niki (Nathan) Hainy; mother-in-law VeraLyn Weber; sister-in-law Shanda (Trevor) Heidt; brother-in-law Reid (Dani) Roubal; grandmother Vera Weber; aunt Denise Colbert; nephews Noah (Darissa), Cooper (Daytona) and Carson Hainy, Kaiden and Brahnan Heidt, Ryley and Knox Roubal; honorary sister Lauriann Fuhrman; and countless friends and cousins who meant the world to her.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents Walter and Lucille Jost, Lester Weber, Kevin Weber, Matt and LaVerne Weber; and half-sister Deanna Jost.
