PIERRE, SD – Lisa Marie Bondy, 60, passed away suddenly on October 21, 2024 in Sioux Falls, SD, after suffering a fatal brain aneurysm. A funeral service will be held at 1:30pm on Friday, October 25th at Lutheran Memorial Church with a visitation starting at 12:00pm. Burial will follow the services at Riverside Cemetery. For those unable to attend the service it will be live streamed in the link below.
Lisa was born on August 24, 1964, in Denver, CO, the daughter of Craig and LaVonne (Olson) Johnson. Lisa graduated from Riggs High School in Pierre, SD in 1983.
During her senior year in high school, she met the love of her life, Brian Bondy. They were united in marriage on June 16, 1984 at Lutheran Memorial Church in Pierre. They moved to Vermillion, SD while Brian attended college at the University of South Dakota.
Lisa started her long career with the State of South Dakota at Job Services in Vermillion. Lisa and Brian then moved to Rapid City after college and welcomed their first child, Katie Ann, to the family in November 1989.
Lisa and Brian then moved to Pierre in 1990 where they welcomed two more children, Chris in October 1991 and Anna in March 1995. Her children were the apple of her eye and made her so proud!
Lisa also was very proud to be the statewide homeless consortium leader and would conduct homeless counts every year for the SD Housing Development Authority. Helping the homeless was one of her passions.
After 30+ years of living in Pierre, Lisa retired early and she and Brian relocated to an acreage out in the country north of Sioux Falls which they aptly named the Bonderosa.
Her retirement years were spent lounging in their backyard pool and taking care of the livestock (aka Ramsey the dog and CC the cat).
Lisa was predeceased by her daughter Katie, mother LaVonne, father Craig, father-in-law Galen Bondy and brother-in-law Bruce Bondy.
She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Brian, son Chris, daughter Anna, and sister Traci (Todd) Arens. She is also survived by her mother-in-law Judy Bondy, sisters and brothers-in-law Laurie Dalbey; Tammy and Jim Hanson; and Lisa and Tom Wubben, and future son-in-law Josh Gallegos (hint, hint). She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces and was affectionately known as Auntie Cuckoo and Lisa Pizza!
