Inurnment will be at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Debra passed away Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.
Debra was known for her beautiful smile and warm personality. She loved animals, cats, dogs, horses, especially her Tennessee walking horse, Lee. A lot of people tried to buy Lee, but she would not sell him. When he aged out Deb put him to pasture to live out his life in ease. But most of all Deb loved family, friends, and church family.
Debi was born on May 7, 1954, to William and Pauline (Wessel) Wendt at Lowe Hospital in Mobridge, South Dakota. Debi was a “premi” and spent her first two months in the hospital before joining her parents, brother Richard, and sister Cheryl at their home on 7th avenue east in Mobridge. She was born into a family noted for a strong work ethic, firm Christian values, and strong family ties. Holidays were always spent with extended family where Deb and cousins Darla and Diane could often be found creating mischief.
While in middle school, her family moved to an acreage east of Mobridge. It was there that Debi developed her lifelong love of horses. She and her father spent endless hours in the pasture caring for her favorite horse.
By the time Debi reached high school, she was already over 6 feet tall. Knowing that ready-made clothes were not an option for her, under her mother’s tutelage she became an expert seamstress. Over her lifetime she created beautiful clothing, coats, and even shirts for her future husband, Lanny.
After graduation from Mobridge High School, Debi worked with MDU as a meter reader. After she was married to Lanny Saint-Sing she worked as a credit consultant in High Point, North Carolina. A move to Iowa realized a dream for Lanny to set up his own auto body shop, that dream only to be dashed by an injury leading to retirement.
In later years, Debi and Lanny returned home to Mobridge to be closer to family and friends. Deb was an accomplished seamstress, and gifted photographer. She is remembered for her pink snowsuits worn as she walked the streets of Mobridge reading meters, and for her faith, her bright optimism, friendly words, lovely smile, her great love and care for animals. Our loss is great. She will be remembered with love, she will be missed by many.
Debra was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Richard and numerous aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Lanny, sister, Cheryl (Byron) Perrine, sister-in-law, Peggy Wendt, nephews, William (Karyn) Perrine, Mark Wendt, Darin Wendt and nieces, Sarah (Reggie) Perrine Chondra, Amanda Wendt, great nephew Ryan Perrine and great nieces, Prairie, Naomi and Caitlin Wendt.
