In an announcement that shocked the entire world of football, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported moments ago that Bill Belichick, former Super Bowl winning head coach of the New England Patriots, has accepted the position as University of North Carolina’s next head football coach.
Belichick had expressed an interest to return to coaching, but college coaching was not on the radar until it came out that the future HOF coach interviewed for the Tar Heels job. Belichick will be taking the place of another legendary coach in his own respect, Mack Brown, who was fired after this year’s 6-5 campaign.
The belief is that Belichick will open a favorable pipeline to the NFL for recruits and bring a level of experience that will be intriguing to many players and families alike.
No details on his contract have been released, but Belichick is returning where his father coached in the 1950’s
