The Pierre Volunteer Fire Department was called to fires in two different homes Monday night (Dec. 16, 2024).
Fire Chief Ian Paul says the first fire call came around 6:30pm to the 400 block of West Pleasant Street in Pierre.
Then around 9pm Monday night, Paul says they were called to Lakeview Court in Pierre because of a fire in a mobile home.
Paul says three adults and two children are working with the Red Cross to find temporary housing. He says one person is believed to have been transported to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. The cause of the Lakeview Court mobile home fire is under investigation.
Along with the Pierre Volunteer Fire Department, other agencies responding were the Fort Pierre Volunteer Fire Department, Pierre Police Department, Pierre City Electric Utilities, AMR ambulance service and the Hughes County Sheriff’s Office.
