Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wecota,

Maxine I. Bierman was born September 27, 1929, in Aberdeen, SD, to Erhard “Shorty” and Mary (Kramer)
Bierman. At the age of seven, they adopted Pauline, who was the same age as Maxine. She always said Pauline
saved her life.
Maxine attended Chambers Country School in Union Township north of Chelsea through the 8 th grade and
graduated from Cresbard High School. She continued her education at Presentation College in Aberdeen, where
she became a registered nurse, graduating in 1950.
On June 17, 1950, Maxine eloped with Duane White at Webster, SD. They made their home with her parents for
a short time until her parents moved into Chelsea, and the farmstead became hers and Duane’s. In 1960 they
moved to Wecota, where they raised their three children. In 1967, they moved to Cresbard where they resided
until moving to the Meadows Assisted Living 18 years ago.
Maxine’s life truly was her love of nursing. Following graduation from Presentation, she went to work for the
Faulk County Hospital, working as a nurse and later becoming the director of nursing. She then became the
Faulk County Community Health Nurse, a position she performed until her retirement. Maxine also spent many
years traveling the area performing physicals for many insurance companies. She was so proud of being a nurse
and of having her granddaughter become one as well.
Maxine dedicated many years to area boards, including the Faulk County Hospital Board, Faulkton Area
Medical Center Board, Library Board, and Area IV Nutrition. She was also an active member of the Cresbard
Auxiliary, Autumn Leaves Senior Center, and the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Wecota, where she was active
in the choir and LWML. In her spare time, Maxine enjoyed reading, doing cross-stitch, crossword puzzles,
gardening, and canning, always willing to share the produce with those around her.
Those left to cherish Maxine’s life are her children: Sherry (Earl) Fix, Faulkton, and Kim (Bonnie) White,
Thomaston, GA; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and her brother
and sisters-in-law: Marvin (Donna) White, Rapid City, and Jan White, Winchester, VA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Duane, daughter Marsha, and sister Pauline.
Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Maxine’s arrangements. (www.familyfuneralhome.net)
