A garage in the northeast part of Pierre was badly damaged in an early Thursday morning (Feb. 20, 2025) fire.
Pierre Volunteer Fire Department Chief Ian Paul said the call to the 1600 block of Northstar Avenue came at around 6:30am.
Paul said firefighters had to keep the flames from spreading to nearby structures.
Along with the fire, Paul said firefighters were also battling subzero temperatures.
The cause of the garage fire is under investigation, but Paul said it is not considered suspicious.
