At Tuesday’s (March 4th) meeting of the Walworth County Commission, Jason Hill from the Department of Legislative Audit told the commissioners that he is here for inspection of the 2022-23 audit.
Hill invited the board to visit with him anytime if they have questions about the audit.
Emergency Management
Walworth County Emergency Manager Jeff Jensen was at the meeting with a report on activities in his office. Jensen reminded everyone that a burn ban is still in effect in Walworth County.
Jensen had an update on the Warhawk repeaters for the Lowry, Firesteel, and Dupree sites.
Jensen thinks State Radio is in agreement that there are shortcomings with this area’s digital radio public safety system.
Jensen told the commissioners that the drone has arrived but has not yet been flown.
He has several trainings set up:
- HAZMAT Command School Training in Mobridge this Saturday;
- Weather spotter training in Mobridge on March 18th;
- IMAT (Incident Management Assistance Team) training in Mobridge in May.
Jensen also encouraged the commissioners to participate in an ICS-402 training course that gives county officials an overview of what their roles are in a big event.
HIGHWAY
Highway Superintendent Tom Hannan informed the commissioners that road limits for hard top roads in the county, six ton per axle, will be signed and enforced as of Wednesday, March 5th.
The county will advertise a public hearing to be held at the next commission meeting on private driveway agreement letters.
