Gordon Pollock, 84, of Miller, passed away Monday, July 6, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Miller.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, a private funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Miller with Rev. Max Miller officiating. Burial with military honors at Howell Cemetery, rural Miller. A walk-through public visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Reck Funeral Home, Miller.
Gordon Roy was born April 16, 1936 in Howell Township at home to Roy and Olga (Hargens) Pollock. He attended grade school in Howell township and graduated from Miller High School in 1954.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1956 and were honorably discharged in October of 1959. Gordon married Marilyn Miller on June 26, 1960, at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Miller. To this union three children were born: Doug, Patty, and Paula.
Gordon was a devoted member of the Lutheran Church and attended church regularly. He enjoyed farming especially with his Allis Chalmers tractors and farmed his whole life until his retirement. He always enjoyed telling tales of his life in the army. Throughout his life he was an avid sportsman, high school state boxing champion, bowling, hunting, and fishing with friends and family. Gordon was always known for his colorful language and storytelling.
Gordon was a member of the American Legion, Trinity Lutheran Church Council, and the Hand County Conservation Board.
He was survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marilyn; son, Doug (Jo Engelmann) Pollock of St. Lawrence; daughters: Patty Martinmaas of Miller and Paula (Joe) Fetsko of Houston, Tx; grandchildren: Matt (Nikki) Rogers, Heather (Matt) Poindexter, Dylan (Karren) Rogers, Spence (Kaylie Eich) Pollock, and Zach (Jamie) Pollock; great grandchildren: Madelynn and T.J. Rogers, Rylee and Reese Rogers, and Blakelyn Pollock; siblings: Arlys (Larry) Abernathy of Chamberlain and Vickie DeNeui of Houston, TX; and nephews: Loren Abernathy of Blunt, Alex DeNeui, ID, and Nathan DeNeui, CA.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents: Roy and Olga Pollock; his parents-in-law: Sam and Verlyn Miller; brother-in-law; Kenneth Miller; nephew, Scottie Abernathy; and son-in-law, Rick Martinmaas.
