The Hughes County Commission has been contemplating what day of the week and what time of day would be most convenient to hold their twice-monthly meetings.
For the past several years, meetings were held on the first and third Mondays of the month at 5:30pm. Since the beginning of the year, the meetings have been held at 9am. Initially they were on Mondays, but more recently they have been on Wednesdays.
Commission Chairman Rob Fines wants to be sure the public can attend their meetings, if they want to.
Long-time Commissioner Bill Abernathy didn’t think the day of the week or the time of the meeting has an impact on public attendance.
General consensus was Monday morning meetings are not the way to go.
Starting April 1, 2025, Hughes County Commission meetings will be held at 3pm on the first and third Wednesday of each month.
