City officials from Herreid and Mobridge re-elected to district offices for SD Municipal League

The mayors of Herreid and Mobridge will each serve another term as the District 7 chair and vice-chair for the South Dakota Municipal League.

Herreid Mayor Gary Weismantel was re-elected chair and Mobridge Mayor Gene Cox was re-elected vice chair during a meeting last week (March 20, 2025) in Akaska. As the district chair, Weismantel will represent the district on the SDML Board of Directors.

Additionally, Municipal League Executive Director Sara Rankin recapped the outcome of the 2025 Legislative Session and the impact new laws will have on South Dakota towns.

In other business, those attending voted to hold the 2026 District 7 Meeting in Herreid.
