The South Dakota Agricultural and Rural Leadership (SDARL) program will host its first annual SDARL Summit next week (June 19-20, 2026) in Oacoma.
SDARL Program Director Jennifer Henrie says the general public is welcome to attend the event, along with program partners and alumni.
Henrie says the agenda has a lot of information packed into 24 hours over two days.
Other discussions will focus around artificial intelligence and leadership skills and strategies training.
Henrie says the Summit also provides an opportunity for people curious about the SDARL program to learn more about it.

The South Dakota Agricultural and Rural Leadership (SDARL) program will host its first annual SDARL Summit on June 19-20, 2026, at Cedar Shore Resort in Oacoma.
The Summit brings together agricultural, business, community and policy leaders from across the state for a two-day program of learning, networking and leadership development. The event is open to the public and registration information is available at www.sdagleadership.com.
Highlights of the summit will include:

Leadership panel with SDARL alumni– Walt Bones, Mike Jaspers, Lucas Lentsch and Kim Vanneman– who have served as the South Dakota agriculture secretary, moderated by Hunter Roberts, Secretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources

Discussion on emerging issues related to artificial intelligence presented by South Dakota technology leaders Sara Steever and Dr. Ashley Podhradsky

Professional training workshop focused on leadership skills and strategies led by SDARL Program Director Jennifer Henrie

Networking opportunities for SDARL alumni and participants including an authentic chuckwagon cookout
