A 71 year old man from Stuart, Nebraska, died in a single vehicle crash Tuesday evening (June 9, 2026), 10 miles east of Burke, SD.
The name of the person involved has not been released pending notification of family members.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates the driver of a 1939 Chevrolet JB Coupe was traveling eastbound on Highway 18 when the vehicle left the roadway and entered the ditch. The vehicle struck an approach, went airborne, then rolled.
The driver died at the scene.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
