Earlier today (June 10, 2026), a concerned Pierre resident reached out to City Hall after noticing several ducklings had fallen into a storm drain and were unable to get back out.
After hearing what was going on, Construction and Operations Manager Josh Bible connected with the City’s Collections Department to see if they could help. A little time and teamwork later, eight ducklings were safely rescued and reunited above ground.
From City Hall:
Thank you to the resident who spoke up and to the City crews who jumped in to help. Some days the job calls for fixing infrastructure, and some days it means climbing into a storm drain to rescue ducklings.
