The South Dakota State Capitol Building in Pierre could be getting a complete renovation.
Deputy State Engineer Christine Day asked the Capitol Complex Beautification and Restoration Commission (April 16, 2025) for the money to look into what it would take to rehab the building’s infrastructure.
Day wants an in-depth look at the condition of all of the various systems inside the Capitol.
Day said the in-depth look they take at the systems, would also include how the space within the Capitol could be better used.
Day said utility study done two years ago showed most of the plumbing in the Capitol is original and doesn’t meet current building code requirements.
